Medtronic engages with a variety of stakeholders including physicians, patients and patient advocacy groups, employees, suppliers, shareholders and institutional investors, government regulators, policymakers, non-governmental organizations and local communities. Medtronic strives to identify and engage key stakeholders that are in a position to advance or impact the objectives embedded in our citizenship pillars.

Global Leadership in Addressing Chronic Disease

  • Sponsorship of and participation in public policy events to advance product awareness and access through government channels.
  • Ongoing education and collaboration with healthcare professionals to create and refine therapies, improve delivery and access, and expand safe and effective approved use.
  • Philanthropic support of health professionals and patient advocacy groups to build infrastructure and promote public awareness and education.
  • Partnerships with nonprofits to increase product donations and fulfill unmet healthcare needs in communities worldwide.

Collaborative Culture of Innovation  

  • Voluntary public disclosure of payments to healthcare professionals and organizations to achieve transparency regarding our collaborative relationships. 
  • Use of social media tools to cultivate collaboration and communication among Medtronic employees.
  • Implementation of a web-based forum at Medtronic.com to solicit ideas from the public on medical technology and devices.

Total Employee Engagement

  • Use of biennial Global Voices employee survey to measure employee engagement and identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.
  • Promotion of Employee Resource Groups to connect employees with common backgrounds or orientations and support employee development, education, training, recruitment and retention, and community involvement.
  • Execution of Mission in Motion programs to promote employee volunteerism and giving.
