Work-Life Resources

Providing employees with work-life resources that enhance their overall health and well being is a natural extension of our Mission. Left unaddressed, personal challenges such as stress, depression, relationship problems, parenting, child and elder care, and financial concerns, grief and bereavement, and addiction, can adversely affect physical health, personal productivity, and job satisfaction.

The Medtronic Employee Assistance Program (MEAP) helps employees resolve work-related or personal concerns through problem assessment, short-term counseling, skill-based coaching, referral, and follow-up services. All MEAP work-life program services are provided confidentially and free of charge to employees and family members in the U.S. and some additional countries. Approximately 10 percent of our U.S. workforce utilizes MEAP services.

In addition to enhancing employee well being, MEAP benefits Medtronic by reversing declining employee performance, increasing productivity and morale, reducing absenteeism and turnover, and lowering medical costs.

Our MEAP objectives are:

  • to provide consultation to Human Resources staff and Medtronic management regarding work group dynamics, and organizational initiatives related to safe and healthy work environments.
  • to assist employees and their family members in receiving accessible assessment, counseling and referral services to meet their mental health needs.
  • to educate employees and the organization about mental wellness to prevent unproductive work patterns and optimize the contribution of all.

MEAP resources include but are not limited to career coaching; stress management; personal and family counseling; addiction awareness, assessment and treatment; flexible work schedules; legal services; Financial consultation, including retirement planning; and child and elder care referrals
