Office of Workplace Inclusion
Medtronic’s Office of Workplace Inclusion provides operational guidelines and standards, as well as financial planning and support for diversity and inclusion programs across the organization. Office of Workplace Inclusion staff specialize in the following focus areas: affirmative action; employee resource groups; professional association networks; and recruiting, training and development related to diversity and inclusion. Our goal is to cultivate a workplace where all employees are fully engaged and can contribute to their full potential by accessing helpful inclusion resources.
For example, our Employee Resource Groups connect employees with common backgrounds or orientations. Group activities support employee development, education, training, recruitment and retention, and community involvement. The groups also provide insight and counsel to various business functions, such as Human Resources and Community Affairs, as well as senior leadership teams. Open to all Medtronic employees, Employee Resource Groups are overseen by the Office of Workplace Inclusion or a local senior leadership team.
The Office of Workplace Inclusion also champions inclusion on a broader scale through its participation in Medtronic’s Every Patient First initiative to eliminate disparities in healthcare, especially among women and racial and ethic minorities. Medtronic employee resource groups are facilitating communication with targeted external communities who can benefit from this awareness and education effort.
Supplier Diversity
Medtronic seeks a diverse base of high-quality suppliers, as this aligns with our Mission and also strengthens our ability to connect with patients, physicians, and communities as we work to improve lives. Our Supplier Diversity program encompasses several diversity classifications (see box below). We identify potential participants through purchasing organizations, supplier directories, trade shows, and the Medtronic Supplier Registration Portal, which allows our internal buyers to integrate supplier diversity into the standard procurement process.

Diverse suppliers include certified Minority-owned Businesses, Women-owned Businesses, and Small Businesses (Small Disadvantaged Businesses, HUBZone-, Woman-, and Veteran-owned/Service Disabled Veteran-owned Businesses).
