Diversity: In the Community

No person should be denied access to healthcare because of who they are or their socio-economic status. We help underserved people learn about healthy lifestyles, get basic healthcare, and gain access to our therapies. We also educate healthcare providers in countries where lack of training prevents access to life-saving technologies, and we offer scholarships to educate future scientists from all walks of life. Examples include:

Diabetes Education for Hispanics

Through a Medtronic grant for the Alliance for Hispanic Health, the organization developed communication tools specially tailored to reach Hispanics with diabetes. The program helped participating patients better understand their diabetes, and it helped us understand the best way to include Hispanic patients in the healthcare system.

Training Tomorrow’s Innovators

Our support of Teach for America trains math and science teachers who are serving students in some of the most socioeconomically disadvantaged communities in America. Our hope is that many of those thousands of students go on to study math and science, and become the innovators of the future. The experience and background those students bring to the workforce will raise our cultural understanding and change all of us for the better.

You can learn more about these efforts in the Medtronic Foundation section.
