Registration

If you meet the certification requirements below and are interested in doing business with Medtronic, you must first register on the Medtronic Supplier Registration Portal (MSRP). The portal provides our sourcing personnel with access to detailed supplier capability profiles, and is used to validate certifications and diversity status of both potential and current suppliers.

  • To register in our portal, you must have a D&B® D-U-N-S® Number, the industry standard for business listings.
  • Registration is not a guarantee of future business.
  • For MSRP registration issues, click on the Support button (please do not contact Medtronic).
  • To be recognized as a diverse supplier your company must be registered in the appropriate certification database and copies of related certification documents uploaded in MSRP.
  • Profiles must be updated annually in MSRP with current certifications.

Certification

See the appropriate classification below for certification requirements. Note that all small businesses must register in the System for Award Management (SAM) and the Medtronic Supplier Registration Portal

Small Business (SB)

A firm, including its affiliates, which is independently owned and operated, is not dominant in its field of operation, and qualifies as a small business under the criteria and size standards in 13 CFR part 121 (see FAR 19.102). A table of small business size standards can be found on the SBA website. To be recognized by Medtronic as a SB, a company must meet the size requirements listed on the SBA website and be certified and registered as such in the System for Award Management (SAM) website

Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB)

A small business concern that is at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more individuals who are both socially and economically disadvantaged; for a publicly owned business, at least 51% of its stock must be owned by one or more socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, and must be controlled by one or more such individuals. African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Pacific Americans, Subcontinent Asian Americans, and Native Americans are presumed to qualify. All individuals must have a net worth of less than $750,000, excluding the equity of the business and primary residence. To be recognized by Medtronic as a SDB, a company must be certified and registered as such in the System for Award Management (SAM) website.

NOTE: The 8(a) Business Development Program is a nine-year business development program for socially and economically disadvantaged concerns. 8(a) contractors are certified as SDB for federal contracting purposes, and are listed in Small Business Administration’s (SBA) on-line directory. 8(a) program graduates maintain SDB certification status three years from last SBA review.

Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB)

A small business concern that is at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more women. To be recognized by Medtronic as a WOSB, a company must be certified and registered as such in the System for Award Management (SAM) website. Historically Underutilized Business Zone Small Business (HUBZone)

This classification is administered by the US Small Business Administration (SBA). It was created to stimulate economic development and create jobs in urban and rural communities. HUBZone-certified small businesses receive federal-contracting preferences. The SBA certifies HUBZone status to eligible businesses. To be recognized by Medtronic as a HUBZone, a company must be actively certified and registered as such in the System for Award Management (SAM) website.

Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB)

A small business concern that is at least 51% owned and controlled by a veteran or group of veterans. The Department of Veteran Affairs’ (VA) Center for Veteran’s Enterprise (CVE) verifies VOSB status to eligible businesses. To be recognized by Medtronic as a VOSB, a company must be verified by the CVE and registered as such in the VETBIZ.gov Vendor Information Pages (VIP) database.

Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB)

A small business concern that is 51% owned and controlled by a service-disabled veteran(s). The Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Center for Veteran’s Enterprise (CVE) verifies SDVOSB status to eligible businesses. To be recognized by Medtronic as a SDVOSB, a company must be verified by the CVE and registered as such in the VETBIZ.gov Vendor Information Pages (VIP) database.

Minority Business Enterprise (MBE)

A business that is at least 51% owned, controlled, and operated by a minority group with member(s) of one of the following ethnicities: African American, Asian-Indian American, Asian-Pacific American, Hispanic American, Native American. To be recognized by Medtronic as a MBE, a company must be actively certified by the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC).

Women Business Enterprise (WBE)

A business that is at least 51% owned, controlled, and operated by one or more women. To be recognized by Medtronic as a WBE, a company must be actively certified by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

Note: Certifications and portal registration are not to be considered as a guarantee of conducting business with Medtronic. Supplier selection is based on several factors, including pricing, delivery capabilities, service, and innovation.
