Le traitement par administration d’antispastique par pompe implantable utilise une pompe à perfusion programmable qui libère la médication antispastique dans le liquide entourant la moelle épinière. Le traitement peut améliorer la marche, favoriser la mobilité et générer moins de spasmes, résultats qui peuvent augmenter considérablement votre autonomie.1,21

L'administration d'antispastique par pompe implantable est un traitement précis et ciblé, qui a démontré sa capacité à réduire les symptômes de spasticité sévère résultant d’un accident vasculaire cérébral.

La pompe

La pompe de Medtronic est une pompe à perfusion programmable qui fonctionne sur piles. La pompe contient le médicament et le libère dans les quantités prescrites. Elle est placée dans la cavité abdominale dans le cadre d’une intervention. Un petit tuyau fin et flexible, appelé cathéter, est ensuite inséré près de la colonne vertébrale et relié à la pompe.

Bénéfices et risques

Il n’existe pas encore de traitement curatif pour la spasticité. Mais l’administration d’antispastique par pompe implantable de Medtronic peut toutefois soulager quelques plaintes associées à la spasticité sévère après un accident vasculaire cérébral.
