Arterial Cannulae

During CPB, blood leaves the CPB circuit and returns to the body via an arterial cannula. The arterial Cannula can be inserted centrally (in the aorta) or peripherally (through the femoral or iliac artery), depending upon the procedure, the patient's cardiac function, and the surgeon's preference.
