Cardioplegia-Retrograde Perfusion
The cardioplegia circuit provides the means for delivering cardioplegia solution to the patient's heart. This solution causes cardiac arrest thereby providing the surgeon with a "still surgical field". The coronary sinus cannulae permit delivery of cardioplegia in a backward direction from normal coronary blood flow (retrograde perfusion).
