Gentle Vent Pump HeaderGentle Vent™ Pump Header

Control negative pressure without air mixing in blood.

The Gentle Vent™ pump header's unique design allows this header tube to collapse, preventing build-up of negative pressure. Unlike a traditional VRV valve, the Gentle Vent pump header does not entrain air into the circuit.

  • Eliminates mixing of air and blood in LV vent circuit
  • Controls negative pressure from -150 to -250 mmHg
  • Silicone tubing and Trillium® coated connectors are biocompatible
  • Duckbill valve prevents back/flow

Traditional Vacuum Relief Valves (VRVs) mix air into the LV line to relieve negative pressure. This mixing of air then requires that the blood be returned through the defoaming filter on the reservoir.

Blood Effects Tests3

Laboratory blood tests demonstrate improved preservation of platelets and white cells. The Gentle Vent™ Pump Header (GV 100) test circuit does not include defoaming filters since the Gentle Vent™ Pump Header prevents introduction of air. Control test circuit does include vacuum relief valve and defoaming filter to simulate a typical LV vent circuit.
