Freestyle® Aortic Root Bioprosthesis

Surgical Versatility

The "full-root" construction of the Freestyle bioprosthesis, and its unique full-root configuration, are designed to offer the surgeon unmatched versatility in implant options and the flexibility to meet diverse patient clinical indications. The Freestyle valve is the only stentless valve available in the U.S. offering the following implant options: full-root, root-inclusion, and subcoronary (complete and modified).

Full-root Technique

Full Root

After mobilizing both coronary ostia on buttons of the aortic wall, the remaining sinus of Valsalva tissue and diseased aortic wall are excised.

Root-Inclusion Technique

Root Inclusion

After performing an aortotomy and removing the native aortic valve leaflets, the bioprosthesis is placed inside the native aorta. Windows in the bioprosthesis' sinuses allow clearance for the coronary ostia.

Complete Subcoronary Technique

Complete Subcoronary

After performing aortotomy and removing the aortic valve leaflets, the scalloped valve is placed inside the native aorta. Clearance for the coronary ostia is allowed by scalloping all three sinuses of the bioprosthesis.

Modified Subcoronary Technique

Modified Subcoronary

The noncoronary sinus of the bioprosthesis is retained, and the right and left coronary sinuses are scalloped.
