Angelia

Senior Compliance Specialist

What do you love about your job?
My job requires me to interact with people, both internal and external. I enjoy it because my day is never mundane. New challenges help me hone my creative thinking skills that are not taught in schools.
How does Medtronic's Mission show in your day to day work?
Because my region can be challenging from a compliance perspective, I have to ensure we are providing sound solutions and education to successfully operate in the most ethical way.
What is challenging about your job?
By supporting many different countries, I have to deal with people from different cultures and setting a compliance tone can be quite challenging. Without the constant support from my manager and colleagues, this responsibility could have become much more difficult.
How do you give back?
In our Singapore office, I had the chance to lead a Social Committee Team in 2013. Our team created a "Mission in Motion" project to provide cleaning services to senior citizens. With teams of just 4-5 people we were able to successfully clean 6 homes in just 3-4 hours!
What do you love about your current location?
Singapore is a small country and sometimes people struggle to find things to do, but the locals do have one thing in common and that is eating. Eating brings all cultures and races together and this is one of the most enjoyable experiences I can have.
What is one random fact about you?
I adopted a stray calico cat at Medtronic's office and she's now happily chasing after her mouse toy in my home!
What is your favorite quote?
"Walk ahead, not away."
How do you balance your life?
Medtronic has a flexible work schedule that allows me to work from home occasionally. This opportunity provided me ample time to exert creative thinking with little distraction from the office. I also love going to our fitness center when I am in the office. This is one of the greatest benefits we have!
