Gemini® Irrigated RF
Surgical Ablation Device

ACCESS, FLEXIBILITY, PRECISION, AND CHOICE

With the unique Gemini Irrigated RF Surgical Ablation Device, you now have the added choice of lateral port access. Positioning the electrodes at the ablation site has never been easier:

Gemini®-s

    Gemini®-s
  • The revolutionary Gemini-s device has a moderate curve to facilitate lateral access.  The Gemini-s is the only device available with lateral access.
  • The jaw design accommodates varying degrees of tissue thickness.

Gemini®-x

    Gemini®-x
  • The Gemini-x device has a greater jaw curve for top-down or bottom-up vertical approaches.
  • As with the Gemini-s device, the Gemini-x jaws are designed for use on tissues of varying thicknesses.

Both the Gemini-x and Gemini-s offer:

  • Flexible necks fit through port-sized incisions and permit more placement options. Flexibility also allows the devices to be maneuvered into place around delicate structures.
  • Easily attached QuickConnect guides ease the process of positioning the device jaws. Guides separate easily when the procedure is completed.
  • One-hand trigger control gives the surgeon complete control in starting and stopping RF energy delivery. An integral trigger lock prevents unintentional RF energy delivery when device jaws are open.

Cardioblate® Navigator®
Tissue Dissector

ACCESS

Cardioblate® Navigator® Tissue Dissector

Tissue dissection prior to ablation device placement demands precise control and feedback sensitivity. The Cardioblate® Navigator® Tissue Dissector gives you the ability to navigate complex anatomies with single-handed control for soft tissue dissection in hard to reach areas.

The Navigator Tissue Dissector’s multi-link design provides sensitive tactile feedback and enhanced features provide better control:

  • In-line wheel motion allows the surgeon to feel the tip’s rotation while controlling the wheel. Thumb lock stabilizes the curve of the tip.
  • Synchronized, radius control graphics show the tip angle for efficient dissection in difficult areas.
  • Finger-like curve of the distal tip feels like an extension of the surgeon’s hand.
  • Ergonomically designed handle accommodates to surgeon’s preferred grip.
  • Lighted tip with on/off switch optimizes visibility and manages glare.
  • Integrated guidewire system connects the Navigator device with a soft guide for easier device positioning.

Cardioblate® MAPS

MAPPING, ABLATION, PACING AND SENSING DEVICE CONFIRMATION

Cardioblate® MAPS

With over 50 years of cardiac rhythm management experience, Medtronic is committed to using our expertise to develop tools that will enhance your surgical ablation procedures.

The Cardioblate MAPS device integrates cardiac rhythm diagnostics and surgical ablation technologies in one simple-to-use device.

Stimulate to locate target sites that potentially contribute to various cardiac arrhythmias.

Map

Stimulate

Apply high frequency stimulation (HFS) to areas around the pulmonary vein/atrial junction to identify sites that may contribute to various cardiac arrhythmias.

Ablate areas identified through stimulation.

Ablate

Target Sites

The Cardioblate MAPS device allows you to destroy the sites identified through HFS with cardiac ablation.

Confirm exit block by pacing pre- and post-ablation.

Pace

Lesion Assessment: Exit Block

Establish atrial capture by pacing from the area to be isolated. Once the isolation lesion has been created, pace with the Cardioblate MAPS device from the same location as before to attempt atrial capture. Conduction block is demonstrated if atrial capture is not obtained (no corresponding atrial rate change as established initially).

Sense

Lesion Assessment: Entrance Block
Monitor atrial EGM potentials pre- and post-ablation to confirm entrance block.

Monitor atrial EGM potentials pre- and post-ablation to confirm entrance block. Before creating the isolation lesion, monitor atrial EGM potentials in the area to be isolated. After the lesion has been created, monitor atrial EGM potentials on both sides of the lesion for comparison to each other and those measured previously. Conduction block is demonstrated by absence or reduced potentials in the area isolated by the ablation lesion when compared to left atrial activity outside that area.

Cardioblate® 68000 Surgical Ablation System Generator

REAL-TIME FEEDBACK, REAL-TIME POWER

Cardioblate® 68000 Surgical Ablation System Generator

Delivering precise, irrigated RF energy based on tissue requirements is key to achieving transmurality and consistent conduction block. Irrigation facilitates conduction between the RF probe and cardiac tissue, resulting in an efficient transfer of energy. The lightweight, portable Cardioblate® 68000 generator is the foundation on which the Medtronic Cardioblate System is built.

The compact Cardioblate 68000 generator speeds system setup and its variety of features eases the process of creating ablation lesions for consistent conduction block:

  • Bipolar algorithm customizes energy delivery based on tissue requirements for reliable, reproducible transmurality.
  • Audible tones and touch screen messages notify user of ablation status, transmurality, and other critical information.
  • Touch screen operation for adjusting ablation parameters.
  • Color LCD screen folds into case for storage and flips open on hinge for different viewing angles.
  • Troubleshooting steps available via touch screen messages.

Cardioblate® XL Irrigated RF Monopolar Surgical Ablation Pen

REACH AND CONSISTENT CONDUCTION BLOCK¹

Cardioblate® Irrigated RF Monopolar Surgical Ablation Pen

The Cardioblate® XL Irrigated RF Monopolar Surgical Ablation Pen offers the unique advantage of irrigated ablation technology:

  • Low impedance path allowing energy to be driven further into the tissue for a deeper lesion.
  • Facilitates transfer of the RF energy, for pen oscillation over the tissue without applying pressure.
  • Minimizes tissue charring.

The Cardioblate® XL Surgical Ablation Pen

  • 20 cm monopolar shaft designed for cardiac ablation procedures on difficult-to-access tissue. It is especially useful for:
    • Small thoracotomy approaches.
    • Larger or "barrel-chested" full sternotomy patients.
  • Extended length shaft is reinforced for added stability yet is fully malleable, so it can be conformed to meet virtually any anatomical challenge.
  • Gray color reduces glare during procedures
