Liver Resection

Monopolar sealers are used in liver resections

Hepatic resection inherently carries the risk of significant blood loss for patients, resulting in additional cost due to transfusion and the potential for increased length of stay.1,* Medtronic Advanced Energy monopolar sealers use patented Transcollation® technology, a combination of radiofrequency (RF) energy and saline, to provide hemostatic sealing of soft tissue during hepatic surgery.2

Additional Clinical Benefits of Using Transcollation Technology

  • May reduce the need for other blood management products during or after the procedure2
  • Capable of sealing bleeding liver parenchyma without producing excessive charring or eschar2
  • Reduces transfusion rates by minimizing intra-operative blood loss2

Pancreatectomy

Pancreatectomy

Monopolar sealers are used in pancreatectomies

Pancreatectomies often result in post-operative pancreatic leaks, exposing patients to additional risks. Medtronic Advanced Energy monopolar sealers use patented Transcollation® technology, a combination of radiofrequency (RF) energy and saline, to provide hemostatic sealing of soft tissue on the resection plane and distal stump. This technology has been clinically shown to reduce post-operative pancreatic leaks following distal pancreatectomy.1
