FDA (Food and Drug Administration) - The FDA is an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that ensures the safety and efficacy of drugs and medical devices by regulating their availability or distribution. Using evidence of safety, efficacy, or equivalence as established in clinical trials and studies, the FDA approves the market release of medical devices and drugs.
failed back syndrome - This condition refers to patients who have undergone one or more surgical procedures and continue to experience pain. Some common diagnoses included in this condition are recurring disc herniation, epidural scarring or an injured nerve root. Failed Back Syndrome may be successfully treated with APT Neurostimulation or APT Intrathecal.
 
fibrosis - The formation of fibrous tissue
fixation - Tissue preservation through the use of chemicals or process
flow assessment - Evaluation of the amount of blood flowing through the completed bypass graft.
 
french scale - A unit of measure used in to describe the diameter of needles and catheters. Each French unit is roughly equivalent to 0.33 mm in diameter, for example, 18 French (18F) indicates a diameter of 6 mm.
