Overview

Prevent the Preventable.

When responding to patient deterioration, timing can be critical. Early warning scores use multi-parameter patient information so you can identify at-risk patients sooner – up to six hours sooner than monitoring a single parameter.([FOOTNOTE=Maupin JM, Roth DJ, Krapes JM. The Vital Sync™ early warning score app continuously monitors patient data and automatically calculating a patient’s early warning score. This innovative clinical decision support (CDS) app is designed to make the implementation of an EWS protocol simple, facilitate clinical collaboration, and help you get a head start on escalating care.

The Vital Sync™ EWS app continuously and automatically pulls information from your devices to provide accurate, real-time parameter measurements. And because our app pulls information directly from bedside devices — rather than only the EMR — it provides an “earlier” early warning score than many other systems that rely on the EMR as the sole source for data. This direct-from-the-device capability helps get critical information to you quickly so you can respond to signs of clinical distress quickly.

And it automatically presents information when and where you need it, on the web-enabled devices you use throughout the day on your hospital’s network. This easy remote access to early warning scores and other vital information helps your clinical team prioritize patient care.

Features

An “Earlier” Early Warning System

  • Connects to monitoring devices you rely on like Microstream™ capnography monitoring and Nellcor™ pulse oximeters to provide real-time parameter measurements.
  • Pulls information directly from bedside devices — rather than only the EMR — so it provides an “earlier” early warning score than many other systems which rely on the EMR as the sole source for data.
  • Direct-from-the-device capability helps get critical information to you quickly so you can respond to signs of clinical distress quickly.
  • Automatically presents information when and where you need it on web-enabled devices.
  • Easy remote access to early warning scores and other vital information helps your clinical team prioritize patient care.

Real-time, Continuous EWS Calculations

The Vital Sync™ EWS app helps you realize the benefits of using a remotely accessible early warning system.   It calculates an automatic EWS using  multi-parameter information such as:

  • Respiration rate
  • Heart rate
  • SpO2
  • Blood pressure
  • Body temperature
  • AVPU
  • And other patient data

A Choice of Early Warning Scores

The Vital Sync™ EWS app gives you a choice of implementing a commonly used EWS based on published literature, as well as the option to use a custom EWS based on your hospital’s protocols. The Vital Sync™ EWS app includes the following programmed EWS protocols:

  • NEWS – National Early Warning Score
  • MEWS – Modified Early Warning Score
  • SEWS – Standardized Early Warning Score
  • WEWS – Wellington Early Warning Score
