True Intelligence for Both Monitor & Sensor

The Nellcor™ pulse oximetry system with OxiMax™ technology establishes a new milestone in patient safety monitoring that can impact clinical settings from the everyday to the extraordinary. This new sensor design helps to more effectively monitor a broader range of patients, including those who may have been difficult to monitor in the past based on certain clinical considerations.

Technology:

The Nellcor™ pulse oximetry system with OxiMax™ technology takes a dramatic departure from standard pulse oximetry technology by moving signal calibration data out of the monitor and into the sensor. When the sensor calibration resided within the monitor, the sensor design had to conform to the preprogrammed data in order to calculate oxygen saturation (SpO2).

Pulse Oximetry Innovation

The OxiMax™ digital memory chip is embedded into the sensor that contains all the calibration and operating characteristics. This gives the monitor the flexibility to operate accurately with a diverse range of sensor designs.

This opens up a whole new world of pulse oximetry innovation that can help clinicians provide better patient care by more effectively monitoring a broader range of patients, including those who may have been difficult to monitor in the past based on certain clinical considerations.

The sensor message function provides troubleshooting tips for optimal sensor application, and the sensor event report allows alarm event history stored in the sensor to travel with the patient for quick assessment at various points of care.

The Nellcor™ pulse oximetry system with OxiMax™ technology will accommodate future sensor developments that expand clinical applications for pulse oximetry monitoring. The complete system includes Nellcor™ pulse oximetry monitors and the family of Nellcor™ SpO2 sensors with OxiMax™ technology*.

*When Nellcor™ SpO2 sensors with OxiMax™ technology are used with previous generation Nellcor™ pulse oximetry monitors and Nellcor™-compatible monitors, many features are not accessible. Because of the unique performance characteristics, the Nellcor™ forehead sensor and Nellcor™ SpO2 non-adhesive sensors do not operate with previous generation Nellcor™ pulse oximetry monitors.
