Overview:

Advanced Performance at Every Step

Universally compatible with Covidien’s market-leading portfolio of Endo GIA™ reloads with Tri-Staple™ technology, the iDrive™ ultra powered handle offers true one-handed, push-button operation that eliminates manual firing force and improves maneuverability.

  • Ergonomic, fingertip control offers unlimited points of articulation between the 45-degree left and right limit.
  • Unprecedented stability during operation reduces unwanted motion common to manual devices1
  • Single, universal handle enables compatibility with all of Covidien’s endostapling technology, including:
    • The Endo GIA™ reloads with Tri-Staple™ technology, including the Black Reload, the only reload indicated for extra thick tissue thickness, up to 3 mm
    • The proprietary Curved Tip Reloads with Tri-Staple™ technology, for enhanced visualization and improved tissue manipulation
  • Addition of the new Endo GIA™ Extra Long adapter now makes working with bariatric patients where access is an issue, easier

1 Average 61% reduction in reload tip travel during firing when compared to Ethicon Endo-Surgery Echelon Flex™* in indicated media, n=10 surgeons, 172 total trials.

Technology:

Stapling Made Smarter

Tri-Staple™ technology reloads are designed to work in harmony with the natural properties of tissue to optimize performance before, during and after stapling. With its stepped cartridge face, Tri-Staple™ technology delivers graduated compression, optimizing interaction between the tissue and stapler because it:

  • Generates less stress on tissue during compression and clamping1
  • May allow greater perfusion into the staple line2
  • Provides outstanding performance in variable thicknesses

The improved design of the stronger fixed anvil and I-beam incorporated into the Tri-Staple™ technology reload results in improved staple line strength, leak resistance and hemostasis when compared to the universal reloads3.

No single stapler can address the wide range of tissue management issues surgeons face on a daily basis. That's why Covidien has developed a portfolio of specialty stapling solutions within the Tri-Staple™ technology portfolio to provide the right tool to meet each specific challenge.

2 When compared to Ethicon Echelon Flex™* green reloads as part of a bench study conducted August 16-18, 2011 that measured fluid perfusion into clamped media among different stapler designs (data on file).
