Medtronic CRDM Devices and Daylight Saving Time
As there are no automatic DST/Standard Time conversion algorithms in any Medtronic implantable CRM device or programmer, the change in DST transition dates does not affect any of these Medtronic products, patients, or clinicians. The following procedures should be carried out after the March 11 DST transition (unless DST is not observed in the local area):
- The programmer clock will need to be set to show the correct time.
- For devices that have an internal clock, those devices should have their internal clock reset, as per the labeling in the device Reference Guide.
- For Concerto and Virtuoso devices utilizing CareLink, a manual CareLink transmission should be done following any change in the device clock in order to resynchronize the device with the network.
These are the same procedures that are to be followed after any change in time zone, and do not present any additional actions or considerations above and beyond the ìoldî DST transitions. The delivery of pacing and/or ventricular tachyarrhythmia therapy is not dependent on the device clock, and therefore not affected by any change in time zone, Daylight Savings Time transitions, or any time-of-day criteria.
