Career Path within Medtronic
I spent my first 1½ years at Medtronic building our customer analytics function. It was a great way to leverage some of my strengths while experiencing the steep learning curve of the medical device industry (I hadn't even taken biology since 10 th grade!). Thereafter I moved to my current position. |
Why did you join Medtronic?
Initially I focused on the medical device industry. My consulting experience had taught me that being in a growing, profitable industry makes work a lot more fun. I also had some sense (since vastly expanded) of the intrinsic benefit of working in a business that ultimately helps people. The more research I did, the more Medtronic rose to the top as the industry leader from just about any perspective you'd choose to take. It became a no-brainer. |
How is Medtronic differentiated from its competitors?
Strategically, Medtronic is more diversified than most of our competitors, enabling it to weather natural ups and downs more smoothly. I think our customers see Medtronic as uniquely focused on product quality and ethical behavior, both of which are incredibly important to them. This focus, is a result of our mission and the top priority our leaders put on fulfilling it. |
What does Medtronic have to offer to new college graduates?
Meaningful work in alleviating pain, restoring health and extending life. Working with and learning from the best medical device company in the world. Diversity of opportunity - to work in many medical device businesses, many parts of the world, many locations in the United States. |
