Why did you join Medtronic?
There are a multitude of reasons as to why I chose to work for Medtronic. Perhaps there is no better way to describe all of these than the words of Earl Bakken himself: To contribute to human welfare by application of biomedical engineering in the research, design, manufacture, and sale of instruments or appliances that alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life. At no other company did I see my purpose and passion as an opportunity to be part of something bigger than myself. |
How is Medtronic differentiated from its competitors?
Medtronic is one of the few companies that does an amazing job of balancing respect and appreciation for its past with a lucid realization of the future. While cardiac devices helped to build Medtronic, it will be its investments in areas outside of CRM that will propel it well into the future. Guided by the Medtronic Mission, you would be hard pressed to find a company operating solely in the medical industry that is as well respected, broad based, and operates with a clear and vital interest for its patients.
