Overview

The Aquamantys® System and bipolar sealers feature innovative Transcollation® technology, a combination of radiofrequency (RF) energy and saline that provides hemostatic sealing of soft tissue and bone during surgery.

Aquamantys System and Bipolar Sealers

The Aquamantys System addresses the need for surgeons to achieve hemostasis during surgery. When used during orthopaedic procedures, the Aquamantys System provides benefits for both surgeons and patients – reducing transfusion rates by minimizing intra-operative blood loss.1,2,*

Proper use of the system is important to achieve optimal results with Transcollation technology.

Components of the Aquamantys System

The Aquamantys System consists of a generator and disposable, single-use handpieces. Medtronic Advanced Energy offers innovative Aquamantys handpieces that are adept for use in orthopaedic surgery, such as the 6.0 Bipolar Sealer and MBS Bipolar Sealer with Light. Our handpieces for hip and knee arthroplasty and orthopaedic trauma procedures offer electrode and shaft configurations designed to meet the specific needs of the surgeon.

Transcollation Technology

The effect of Transcollation technology

Transcollation technology may occlude vessels up to 1mm in diameter

The Aquamantys System delivers patented Transcollation technology to stop bleeding and reduce blood loss during and after surgery.1,2,* It has been clinically shown to lower transfusion rates and significantly reduce post-operative drainage.1,2

Our patented integration of RF energy and saline delivers controlled thermal energy to tissue. This combination allows the device temperature to stay at approximately 100°C – nearly 200°C less than conventional devices, which produces a tissue effect without the charring associated with other methods.
