EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
 David Etzwiler
David Etzwiler is Vice President of Community Affairs at Medtronic and Executive Director of the Medtronic Foundation. In his role, David leads the development and implementation of Medtronic's worldwide philanthropy strategies, with primary responsibility for the development of major partnerships and strategic relationships with local, national and international organizations.
David previously served as Senior Director of Government Affairs and the Foundation at Medtronic where he received Medtronic's Extreme Award for developing partnerships with the state of Minnesota and local governments in the development of Medtronic's largest facility in the world. David is also a two-time recipient of the Star of Excellence award, Medtronic's highest award for quality.
Before joining Medtronic, David was Director of The Day One Project, a partnership of the Allina Foundation, Minnesota's domestic violence shelters and the United Way of Minneapolis. David has served in executive positions at Family & Children's Service and Family Service St. Croix and practiced law at Leonard, Street and Deinard, P.A. He serves on a number of boards including, the National Urban Fellows and the Minnesota Council of Foundations and is a member of the National Council of Foundation's Corporate Advisory Committee.
David holds a bachelor's degree in history and political science from Northwestern University, a master's degree in public policy from The Claremont Graduate School, and received his juris doctor degree cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School.
