ABOUT
US
A Legacy of Giving
Maintaining good community citizenship is part of the Medtronic Mission. We've been giving back to the community since we were founded in 1949. It's the right thing to do for our communities, our employees and our business.
We're passionate about improving the health of people and communities where we can make unique and positive contributions. To help our community partners make the greatest impact, we focus in these three areas:
- Improving the health of people with chronic diseases.
- Educating future generations of scientific innovators.
- Enhancing the communities where we live and work.
By bringing together multiple resources – grants from the Medtronic Foundation, the talents and gifts of our 37,000 employees worldwide, donations of medical devices and creative partnerships with our community organizations – we're improving the health of people and communities around the world.
Building the Momentum
Since 1949, we’ve contributed more than $350 million in Medtronic
Foundation grants, Medtronic cash contributions and medical device
donations to improve the health of people and communities around
the world.
As our company has grown, so has our momentum for giving. In fact, almost two-thirds of our historical giving has occurred in the past five years. Last year alone, Medtronic's total giving exceeded $53 million.
A reflection of our global growth, our giving in the international
community has been up 144% over the past five years. In FY07, we
plan to increase our giving to locations outside the United States
even further.
In the years ahead, we look forward to maintaining a strong presence in our communities and bringing our passion for community citizenship to life.
