Overview
Community STEM Education Grants respond to local education needs identified by employee philanthropy committees, with particular emphasis on STEM education for underserved, minority, and female students. These funds are distributed by employee groups.

Purpose
The CommunityLink program supports organizations that improve health, STEM education and Arts, Civic and Human Services in communities where a large number of our employees live and work throughout the world.
Eligible Recipients
Organizations eligible to receive grants include registered nonprofits, schools and government-sponsored institutions throughout the world where a significant amount of Medtronic employees live and work. These are primarily: Australia (Greater Sydney Area or national in scope); Canada (Greater Toronto Area or national in scope Europe (Netherlands: Limburg—Herleen/Maastricht; Western Galway and surrounding areas; Western Switzerland: Lac Leman and surrounding areas ); Japan (Greater Tokyo Area or national in scope); Mexico (Greater Tijuana Area or national in scope); United States (select areas).
Criteria for Grants
Health
CommunityLink Health grants give priority to programs that help people develop and maintain healthy lifestyles, and we’re particularly interested in programs that reduce disparities in health care.
Education
CommunityLink STEM Education programs promote public understanding of health and medical technology, and stimulate interest in science among young people. These include:
- Education projects at schools, science museums and community centers
- Programs that improve the educational and career opportunities of underserved people
Arts, Civic and Human Services
CommunityLink Arts, Civic and Human services grants promote Arts, Civic and Human Services programs that attempt to reach out to the widest possible audiences.
Excluded Activities
The Medtronic Foundation does not support individuals, religious groups for religious purposes, reimbursable medical treatment, scientific research, lobbying, or political or fraternal activities.
Program Proposals and Application
If you wish to apply for a grant, you must first send a one to two page letter of inquiry. After receiving the letter, a Foundation representative will contact you regarding the status of your inquiry. If you are invited for a full application, a Foundation representative will send you an invitation to apply.
