Our Focus
Medtronic Foundation giving is focused in three areas: Health, Education and Community. In fiscal year 2011, the Medtronic Foundation made grants to 475 organizations in 22 countries for a total of $30.6 million, 23.8 percent of which was given internationally.
Health grants primarily focus on:
- Making health systems stronger in developing countries through education, training and support of centers of excellence, and by bringing chronic disease treatments into the primary care setting;
- Supporting patient advocacy and support groups worldwide; and
- Addressing sudden cardiac arrest in the United States by partnering with leading resuscitation experts.
Education grants focus on:
- Primary and secondary science, math and engineering programs, and
- Overall education reform efforts.
Community grants support:
- Local human services and arts organizations within Medtronic communities, and
- Disaster relief efforts providing short- and long-term help to affected areas around the globe
