Our Focus

Medtronic Foundation giving is focused in three areas: Health, Education and Community. In fiscal year 2011, the Medtronic Foundation made grants to 475 organizations in 22 countries for a total of $30.6 million, 23.8 percent of which was given internationally.

Health grants primarily focus on:

  • Making health systems stronger in developing countries through education, training and support of centers of excellence, and by bringing chronic disease treatments into the primary care setting;
  • Supporting patient advocacy and support groups worldwide; and
  • Addressing sudden cardiac arrest in the United States by partnering with leading resuscitation experts.

Education grants focus on:

  • Primary and secondary science, math and engineering programs, and
  • Overall education reform efforts.

Community grants support:

  • Local human services and arts organizations within Medtronic communities, and
  • Disaster relief efforts providing short- and long-term help to affected areas around the globe
