Heart failure is a clinical syndrome in which the heart has been damaged and is no longer able to pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs. Damage to the heart is usually the result of a heart attack, coronary artery disease, untreated blood pressure or an abnormal heart valve. The degree of heart damage causes various symptoms that determine a person’s stage of heart failure (mild, moderate or severe). Heart failure can be misinterpreted because some of the key symptoms -- fatigue, shortness of breath and inability to exercise -- are sometimes viewed as signs of being out of shape or getting older. Only your doctor can determine if you have heart failure.

Recent medical research has proven that cardiac resynchronization therapy from Medtronic may reduce some of your heart failure symptoms.
