Medtronic CardioSight Reader

Medtronic CardioSight Reader

The CardioSight Reader offers direct access to exclusive, device-derived information tailored to the management of heart failure, better enabling clinicians to quickly identify issues and respond to significant clinical events.

CardioSight Reader – Powered by the Medtronic CareLink Network

The CardioSight® Reader (Model 2020A) provides clinicians with simple access to tailored heart failure information stored in Medtronic ICDs, CRT-D devices, and Insertable Cardiac Monitors.

Timely, Direct Access Designed for You

The CardioSight Reader offers direct access to exclusive, device-derived information tailored to the management of heart failure, better enabling clinicians to quickly identify issues and respond to significant clinical events.

Simple, One-Touch Operation

The CardioSight Reader is quick and easy to use, providing flexibility in your clinic workflow. Much like existing tools for measuring vital signs, the CardioSight Reader can be used to conveniently obtain important details on patient status. Within minutes of downloading device information using the reader, a Heart Failure Management or Cardiac Compass® Trends Report is faxed to your clinic and can be added to the patient chart before the physician consults with the patient.

The CardioSight Reader gives you insight into your patient's condition without using a device programmer. It provides simple, one-touch operation, enabling you to obtain read-only information without the possibility of changing device parameters.

Managing Heart Failure Patients

The CardioSight Reader provides patient data specific to your role in managing heart failure patients, supporting parallel patient care with the physician who manages device parameters. Now both physicians have access to trended device reports.

Use the reports to:

  • Monitor fluid status
  • Quantify burden and rate of AT/AF
  • Corroborate patient symptoms
  • Evaluate the efficacy of pharmacologic therapy
  • Risk-stratify patients to more frequent monitoring

CardioSight® Reader

How It Works

Secure Report Delivery … in Minutes

  1. Under a clinician's instruction at the clinic, the patient places the mouse-like antenna of the CardioSight Reader over the implanted device. Data are transferred to the reader.
  2. The reader transfers device data to a secure server via a standard analog phone line. The server then generates a Heart Failure Management Report or a Cardiac Compass® Trends Report. The report is sent to the clinician via fax with a privacy cover page.
  3. The clinician reviews the cardiac trends (including OptiVol® Fluid Trends if the device supports this function) to access the patient's status.
