Introduction to Screening and Implant Techniques

Training for key personnel should be conducted and arrangements for therapy maintenance should be made before a screening test is performed. (Also see Practice Components for other considerations.) In addition, patients being considered for neurostimulation must meet specific patient selection criteria and undergo preoperative evaluation. Once the physician and patient decide to proceed, the implantation of a neurostimulation system generally involves three stages:
