PS Medical Ventricular
Catheters with BioGlide® (left) are treated with a unique, patented process
which covalently bonds hydrogel to the interior and exterior
silicone surfaces of the catheter. When hydrated, the catheters become
hydrophilic
and lubricious, for ease of insertion. Ventricular catheters
with BioGlide have bullet-shaped tips, which are filled with radiopaque
(tantalum impregnated) silicone elastomer. |

Opus® Ventricular Catheters

PS Medical Slotted Ventricular Catheters
feature enlarged rectangular flow holes which optimize the CSF flow
into the catheter. These flow holes, recessed in axial channels, are
designed to minimize catheter flow hole contact with surrounding ventricular
walls and intraventricular debris. Slotted ventricular catheters are
supplied with a right angle clip and a stainless steel stylet. PS
Medical Opus (R) ventricular catheters feature the Opus Stylet, a
breakthrough design. The Opus Stylet is hollow, allowing the physician
immediate visualization of CSF -- prior to stylet withdrawal. This
design significantly simplifies catheter placement accuracy. The Opus
Stylet has an outlet grip with a CSF-exit port. Passage of CSF may
be stopped by covering the exit port with a finger. Also included
is the unique patented right-angle clip, which provides a non-kinking
bend in the catheter at the burr hole site.

Ventricular Catheters are available in Standard, Small, and Flanged.
The Standard catheters may be ordered in radiopaque (barium impregnated)
silicone elastomer tubing, or in translucent, lower durometer (softer)
silicone elastomer tubing. The Small catheter has the same material
characteristics as the Standard radiopaque catheter; its smaller
diameter is recommended for infants. The Flanged catheter has the
same features as the Small catheter, but is fitted with eight flexible
silicone elastomer flanges. Snap Shunt ventricular catheters are
fabricated in six sizes from standard sized silicone elastomer tubing,
and are designed to connect to the CSF-Snap Shunt assembly.

PS Medical Peritoneal Catheters with BioGlide are treated with a unique,
patented process which covalently bonds hydrogel to the interior and
exterior silicone surfaces of the catheters. When hydrated, the catheters
become hydrophilic and lubricious, for ease of insertion. A wide selection
of Cardiac/Peritoneal catheters, Cardiac catheters, and Peritoneal catheters
is also available, differentiated by diameter and tip design. Catheter
slits are coated with graphite to prevent their silicone edges from
cohering during storage.
