Neurostimulators for Psychiatric Disorders

Medtronic Reclaim™ DBS Therapy for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is approved under a Humanitarian Device Exemption (HDE) for people with chronic, severe, treatment-resistant obsessive-compulsive disorder. This therapy uses a surgically implanted medical device, similar to a cardiac pacemaker, to deliver electrical stimulation to precisely targeted areas of the brain. Electrical stimulation may help to reduce some of the symptoms of OCD.

For Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Not everyone with OCD responds well to medication or cognitive-behavioral therapy. Reclaim DBS Therapy for OCD may relieve some of the symptoms of chronic, severe, treatment-resistant OCD.

Neurostimulators are typically implanted near the collarbone. They generate electrical pulses and deliver them through extensions and leads to targeted areas of the brain. One or two Kinetra® Neurostimulators or two Soletra® Neurostimulators are used for Reclaim DBS Therapy for OCD.
