Insurance Coverage – Neurostimulators and Drug Pumps

Neurostimulators and drug pumps are approved by most insurance carriers. Like most pain treatments, your doctor will need an approval from your insurance company before you can receive a drug pump or neurostimulator for your chronic pain. Consult your doctor or insurance carrier for more specific information.

Medicare

Neurostimulators and drug pumps are approved for coverage by Medicare. Medicare will pay 80% of the cost as long as the procedure is determined to be medically necessary. Talk to your doctor about the Medicare Conditions of Coverage.

Workers’ Compensation

Most workers’ compensation carriers cover neurostimulators and drug pumps with an approval before treatment. Get more information from your doctor or your workers’ compensation carrier.
