Preoperative Screening

Typically a neurologist-neurosurgeon team collaborates on a preoperative assessment to determine the patient’s ability to undergo the surgical procedure to implant an Activa System, and the patient’s likelihood to benefit from Activa Therapy. This screening assessment may include the following:

• Full neurological examination to rule out non-Parkinson’s movement disorders
• Neurosurgical examination to assess ability to undergo surgery
• Neuropsychological testing to screen for dementia
