Activa Tremor Control Therapy — Study Design

In the U.S. clinical studies of Activa Tremor Control Therapy1, 45 essential tremor patients (38 men and 7 women) and 39 Parkinsonian tremor patients (31 men and 8 women) were enrolled. Mean age was 66 (range 31 to 80). Mean duration of implant was 10 months (range 1 to 16 months). The three-month randomized evaluation included 29 essential tremor and 24 Parkinsonian tremor patients.

The suppression of tremor due to essential or Parkinsonian tremor was evaluated at 1, 2, 6, 9, and 12 months post-implant. Optimal stimulation parameters were selected by the investigator at each visit.
