Tips

Backup daily, or as often as possible. Ask us or your information systems department to set up a backup scheduler, which can automatically perform backup during the night or whenever your systems are dormant. If your data is lost due to corruption of your storage media, it cannot be retrieved! Backing up will at least provide you with a recent copy.

Reboot your computer for the most efficient fix for a lot of problems. Running three, four or more simultaneous processes in combination with various Internet applications can cause Microsoft Windows to "get tired" and crash. A quick fix may to reboot and not overload the memory with a combination of applications while you are recording an ECG strip or editing the patient database.

Write down a detailed description of the problem. If you have tried rebooting and running some of the maintenance utilities, and you are still experiencing the same problem, please write down what's happening and contact us. Pay attention to any error messages that might pop up-even if they might appear to be unclear and cryptic. Their syntax could lead us to pinpointing the problem immediately.

Make sure you're plugged in. If you are unable to record ECG strips and you are getting a flat line, your module is most probably not functioning properly. In 95 percent of these cases, the power adaptor has been pulled out by mistake. Make sure the green light on your external module is on and that the phone line through which you are getting your TTM recordings is properly connected to the back of the module. (The module is a flat, silver box that is connected to your system. If you do not have one, then you have an internal TTM board and the above does not apply.)

Check to see if you are experiencing network problems. If you cannot open the patient database or your system defaults to a demo patient database, contact your systems department and ask if they are experiencing network problems. If they are not, double-click on your Network Neighborhood and check to see if any system messages appear. If either of these apply, your network is down and your information systems personnel most likely know about it and are working on it. If you are not sure, call us and have your information systems department phone number handy.
