ACC/AHA/NASPE 2002 Updated Guidelines for Implantation of Cardiac Pacemakers and Antiarrhythmia Devices

In 2002, the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, and the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology (NASPE, now Heart Rhythm Society or HRS) jointly issued guidelines for implantation of cardiac pacemakers and antiarrhythmia devices.22 Those collaborating organizations are now in the process of updating those guidelines to include the new information now available from SCD-HeFT. Key aspects of the 2002 guidelines are included here.
