50% Tilt Biphasic Waveform

Tilt Biphasic Waveform

A biphasic waveform was introduced in the GEM II devices that requires 19% less energy for defibrillation. The waveform features a 50% tilt in each phase, compared to the 65% tilt used in earlier devices.

In a randomized paired comparison of 50/50% and 65/65% biphasic waveforms in 60 patients, the 50% waveform required 19% less energy for defibrillation in a Can + SVC-RV system.1
