Implanting the Model 5086 CapSureFix MRI™ Lead
General considerations for active leads fixation:
- Do not direct drive lead with fully seated stylet into resistive cardiac structures
- Number of pin connector rotations for helix extension can vary based on the lead path in the body
- Expect more rotations in tortuous anatomy
- Fluoscopy is the only reliable confirmation of helix extension
- Do not give the lead body one turn post fixation
Consideration specific to 5086 (compared to other CapSureFix Novus® leads):
- Handling of the Model 5086 lead is comparable to other Medtronic active fixation leads14 with some differences primarily in stiffness and torque transfer due to it's unique design15
- The 5086 will require more pin connector rotations to extend the helix
- On x-ray, radiopaque icon identifies a SureScan® lead
