Clinical Research
Program Manager
CRDM
Mounds View, MN

Describe a typical day in your position.

During a typical day at Medtronic, I interact with a variety of functional groups and geographies. My role is to manage the ongoing reporting of clinical data available on our products to meet specific international regulatory requirements. This reporting helps to maintain our products on the market in various geographies. If I have calls with our European colleagues, those will occur early in the day to touch base on schedules or specific projects. Then I spend a large part of my morning either coordinating with the authors who write the reports, touching base with colleagues in the Quality, R&D, Regulatory and Clinical departments, or reviewing schedules. Typically I answer emails over lunch and then spend time reviewing reports in the afternoon, addressing issues that have occurred with different projects and hosting process improvement meetings.

Why do you enjoy working at Medtronic?

The Medtronic mission and its people are why I came to Medtronic. It is so fulfilling to be a part of company that is dedicated to saving and improving lives. The work and research are fascinating, and the people are the best in the business. The transition out of the military was a big change for me and my family, but Medtronic, the HR rep and my manager made the transition very seamless and enjoyable.

What do you love about your job?

I love working with our clinical team and being so close to the data that supports our products. It is amazing to see how our products continue to help patients and how our research continues to help save and improve lives.

How do you give back?

My family and I participate in the Medtronic Christmas Dinners Anonymous program every year. Outside of Medtronic opportunities, I help coach recreational soccer for our 5-year old son, and my husband coaches football and baseball for our 7-year old son. We both also participate on the Uganda Mission Team at our church, which helps raise money through a Student Sponsorship Program for the schoolchildren of St. Anthony Church in Migyera, Uganda.

What is something people may not know about Medtronic?

Medtronic has an incredible number of opportunities available to get involved in the local community outside of daily work hours. There are multiple employee support networks, special interest groups, recreational sports teams, volunteer opportunities, lunch and learn seminars – if you have an interest, there is likely a group or activity to join!

What is one random fact about you?

I served as a military intelligence officer in the US Army for five years before joining Medtronic.

What advice would you give to job candidates?

Don't focus on the job – focus on an industry that you are passionate about and a company culture that mirrors your values, and the job will follow.

What is your favorite quote?

"You have to risk going too far to discover just how far you can really go." – TS Eliot

How do you balance your life?

My family. I love spending time with my husband and our three boys. Their energy and enthusiasm for life is so infectious! I also enjoy reading mystery and spy novels, learning photography, jogging and spending time out on the great Minnesota lakes.
