Fainting (Unexplained)

Reveal Patient Assistant

The Reveal® LINQ Patient Assistant is a hand-held, battery-operated device. As directed by your doctor, when the Patient Assistant is placed over your Reveal LINQ Insertable Cardiac Monitor, and a button is pressed, it triggers the device to record your heart rhythms and mark the place on the heart record when your fainting or symptoms occurred. Your Reveal LINQ Insertable Cardiac Monitor can also record your heart rhythms automatically

USING THE REVEAL PATIENT ASSISTANT

As directed by your doctor, when a fainting spell occurs, you or a family member should do the following:

  1. Hold the Patient Assistant over your implanted Reveal LINQ cardiac monitor against your skin or clothing.
  2. Press the grey button.  You will see a blue light flashing at the top of the Patient Assistant.
  3. While the status light is flashing, continue to hold the Patient Assistant over your monitor.
  4. When the status light changes from flashing blue to solid green and you hear a beep, you can remove the Patient Assistant from your cardiac monitor.  You have made a successful recording.
  5. After you use your Patient Assistant, call your hospital to schedule an appointment to check the information from your Reveal ICM.

Note: See your Reveal Patient Manual for detailed instructions on using the Reveal Patient Assistant.

Battery Life

The Reveal Patient Assistant battery is designed to last through hundreds of uses. However, if you do not see the status light flashing, ask your doctor about exchanging the Patient Assistant.
