One of the number one reasons I enjoy working at Medtronic is because of the passion of the Medtronic family and how we make a difference. I recall my first day at Medtronic back in 2003, I was overwhelmed with the number of enthusiastic 'hellos' I received in the corridors, not just on my first day, but for many many years to come after that. At first I thought it was just because I had been working in a public hospital and the difference in work environment must have been the reason, but it was very clear to me that passion was the driving force of Medtronic employees, which I soon adopted myself and still carry to this day.
Additionally, I enjoy working with a fantastic team and colleagues. I work within a team of intelligent, passionate and fun people who share my passion for Medtronic therapies and the world of HE&R, so we spend a lot of time together problem solving major barriers to ensure we best understand our technology. But their passion and loyalty to solve whatever is at hand is loud and clear.
External forces – this is because I primarily deal with governments and payers who are being asked to pay for great technologies but manage very tight budgets. The conversation is always about how they can grant access to these technologies but still make up their budgets.
That I've been fortunate to have been in the right place and the right time, working for leaders who have clear sight of their role and the role they have in creating and developing their talent.
