Overview

The Aquamantys® System and bipolar sealers feature innovative Transcollation® technology, a combination of radiofrequency (RF) energy and saline that provides hemostatic sealing of soft tissue and bone during surgery.

Aquamantys System and Bipolar Sealers

Medtronic Advanced Energy built the foundation of its early success on innovative products for solid organ procedures. Studies have shown that using Transcollation technology in general surgery procedures provides the following clinical benefits:

  • Reduces blood transfusion rates during and after liver resections1
  • Reduces the need for renal clamping in partial nephrectomies2
  • May reduce the need for other blood management products during or after the procedure1
  • May reduce post-operative pancreatic leaks following distal pancreatectomy3

Components of the Aquamantys System

  • The Aquamantys System consists of a generator and disposable, single-use handpieces. Medtronic offers innovative Aquamantys handpieces that are specially designed for general surgery, such as the 9.5 XL Bipolar Sealer with cone-shaped electrodes designed to aid in blunt dissection.

The Aquamantys System delivers patented Transcollation technology to stop bleeding and reduce blood loss during and after surgery.1,* It has been clinically shown to lower transfusion rates and may reduce the need for other blood management products.1,*

Our patented integration of RF energy and saline delivers controlled thermal energy to tissue. This combination allows the device temperature to stay at approximately 100°C – nearly 200°C less than conventional devices, which produces a tissue effect without the charring associated with other methods.
