Overview

The SynchroMed® II drug pump is a small, programmable, battery-powered medical device that stores and delivers medication. It treats severe chronic pain from conditions such as cancer, back or leg pain, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), and painful neuropathy.

The SynchroMed® II allows your doctor to specify how much medication should be delivered at different times. The medication can be increased or decreased based on the individual's needs.

The SynchroMed® II pump is approved for full-body scans under certain conditions.

Placement

The pump is surgically placed in the abdomen. A thin, flexible tube, called a catheter, is inserted into the space surrounding the spinal cord and connected to the pump.
