Overview

Proven technology, state-of-the-art design

The Nellcor™ bedside respiratory patient monitoring system, PM1000N incorporates the latest Nellcor™ digital signal processing and cardiac-based technology for accurate, reliable readings. Because Nellcor™ pulse oximetry is closely tied to patient physiology, it drives consistent performance during various challenging conditions, such as patient movement, noise, and low perfusion which can impede the assessment of patient respiratory status. The patient monitoring system is also cleared as a motion-tolerant bedside pulse oximeter that is compliant with ISO 80601--2--61.

With its intuitive, easy-to-read, graphical user interface and state-of-the-art color touch screen, this monitoring system provides clinicians with easy access to the critical information they need for patient care. The system provides continuous SpO2, pulse rate and respiration rate monitoring, SatSeconds alarm management, and Saturation Pattern Detection (SPD) alert, so clinicians may detect respiratory complications earlier and, therefore, intervene sooner.

Features

  • Modular software, expandable parameters and easy upgrades to help ensure longterm functionality
  • State-of-the-art, lightweight and versatile design
  • Multiple connectivity options
  • Includes Nellcor™ respiration rate technology, which delivers oxygen saturation (SpO2), pulse rate, and respiration rate through a single finger sensor.
  • Nellcor™ pulse oximetry with Oximax™ technology has accuracy claims of +/- 2% in the standard ranges of 70% to 100% saturation, and best-in-class LoSat accuracy claims of +/- 3% of 60% to 80%, enabling clinicians to accurately assess patients’ oxygen saturation.([FOOTNOTE=Saraswat A, Simionato L, Dawson J, et al. • The speed of measuring oxygenation and displaying the value has been shown to be clinically important. In two published papers, clinical studies employed different sequences for sensor application and connection to the patient; Nellcor™ OxiMax™ technology responded fastest to changes in neonate patients.1,2
  • Medtronic is the first and only company to receive FDA clearance for a motion-tolerant pulse oximeter portfolio that is also compliant with ISO 80601-2-61. Motion tolerant pulse oximetry is critical for ensuring patient safety because patient movement can thwart accurate readings and delay diagnosis of serious respiratory compromise.

Technology

The Nellcor™ bedside respiratory patient monitoring system provides SpO2, pulse rate, and respiration rate monitoring through a single finger sensor as well as SatSeconds alarm management, so clinicians may detect respiratory complications earlier and, therefore, intervene sooner.

The monitor also features Saturation Pattern Detection (SPD) alert for automated, real-time detection of desaturation patterns indicative of repetitive reductions in airflow. As an institution’s needs change, the system’s highly modular software and hardware can be upgraded on-site with new features and parameters, offering long-term functionality.

The system memory stores up to 48 hours of trend data at one second intervals. Clinicians can view the data in real-time, as historical trend data in graphical and tabular views, or download the data to a USB flash drive. With both real-time and trend data, clinicians get a complete picture of patient progress and are better informed to make treatment decisions.

  • Provides easy access to critical information via a stand-alone bedside monitor with SpO2, pulse rate, and respiration rate parameters
  • Numbers and trend data are provided and clearly displayed in real-time
  • Stores up to 48 hours of trend data readings at one-second intervals in memory that can be stored on a PC for analysis and archiving
  • Audible and visual alarms for low and high respiration rate
  • Includes the Saturation Pattern Detection alert (SPD) that provides a real-time indication of the presence of repetitive reductions in airflow (RRiA) through an adult patient’s upper airway and into the lungs
  • Field-upgradable via a USB port for feature enhancements/improvements or new parameters, including Nellcor™ respiration rate software
  • Includes Nellcor™ SatSeconds alarm management, a clinician-controlled feature that differentiates between serious hypoxemia and minor transient events
  • Offers various screen layouts that give the user the ability to select among a set of predefined views and easily switch between views
  • Based on a portable, lightweight design that enables easy transport
