MeroGel nasal packing may help prevent adhesions and middle turbinate lateralization, a common cause of FESS (functional endoscopic sinus surgery) failure.1-3
MeroGel® nasal packing is a bioresorbable woven fleece that may be used dry or hydrated after functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS). Doctors who use MeroGel nasal packing have observed better healing in clinical studies.4,5
In its dry state, MeroGel nasal packing absorbs up to 10 times its weight in liquids and helps control minimal bleeding.
When hydrated, the biopolymer gradually transforms into a muco-adhesive gel in approximately 24-48 hours. It separates mucosal surfaces and slowly dissolves after approximately 2 weeks, eliminating the need for painful nasal packing removal for your patients.
Our bioresorbable nasal packing products use hyaluronic acid, a linear polysaccharide and naturally occurring constituent of the extracellular matrix.
Hyaluronic acid helps keep the surgical site moist, reduce adhesions, and decrease healing time.4 Esterified hyaluronic acid, or HYAFF®, is a patented formula that is used in our MeroGel and MeroPack® nasal packing products.
