Can someone with a heart device travel?

Traveling should be OK but be sure to follow a doctor’s instructions. A heart device monitors the heart regardless of location and provides treatment when needed.

If an implanted heart device triggers the security gates at airports or other secure buildings, present an implanted device ID card. If a security operator is using a handheld screening wand, ask the operator not to hold it directly over the heart device or to wave the wand back and forth. Directions on how to safely scan a heart device at an airport are available in several languages on a heart device travel card, which may be useful for international travel.
