What kind of household electrical items can affect an insertable cardiac monitor (ICM)?

An ICM or loop recorder is not affected by most household electrical items. Most items can be used safely with just six inches (15 cm) of distance between the item and the ICM. This includes including electrical kitchen items, powered items for cleaning and personal care, hobby items, power tools, and home electronics. Some items, such as induction cooktops, electric generators, or soldering guns, require more distance to avoid interfering with the monitor. Contact the ICM's manufacturer to learn more.
