Where are the leads placed?
This will depend on which type of device is being implanted and which condition the device is used to address. In devices such as cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRTs), implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), or pacemakers, most leads are guided through a vein into the heart. Leadless options are unique, though, in that the device has no leads and is therefore placed directly against the heart wall and secured.
