Why does someone need an insertable cardiac monitor (ICM)?
Most abnormal heartbeats are difficult to catch. They may not happen regularly, and a person may not feel them. An ICM, or loop recorder, is prescribed by a doctor and can monitor someone’s heart wherever they go over a long period of time. If something abnormal happens, an ICM will record the abnormal heartbeat and send that information to the person’s doctor. Talk to your doctor to determine if a heart monitor is right for you.
