CATHARINA HOSPITAL

The Catharina Hospital team has a standardised and efficient Arctic Front Advance™ Cryoballoon workflow that was designed by electrophysiologists, nurses, and heart lounge leaders to create increased procedure capacity and enable the treatment of more AF patients.

As a result of this collaborative effort, the team increased their AF ablation procedure capacity and enable the treatment of more AF patients. As a result of this collaborative effort, the team increased their AF ablation procedure capacity from three to five procedures per “cryo day” and implemented same-day discharge, following a pilot period and a thorough analysis of safety and outcome-related data. To maintain this optimised approach to Cryoballoon ablation, team shifts are managed efficiently, procedural and peri-procedural steps are standardised, a time-to-isolation dosing protocol is implemented, and an effective heart lounge patient pathway is followed. To help ensure the highest standard of care for their patients, the team tracks outcomes for each AF ablation procedure performed at the hospital.
