DESCRIPTION

This course will allow participants to explore the methods required to adopt an image verified approach to DBS surgery in their own institution.

AUDIENCE

Delegates from neurosurgery, neurology and neuroradiology or MRI physics (a maximum of two centers will join a meeting to allow one-to-one discussions).

OBJECTIVE

The course will cover a series of didactic lectures followed by a discussion. The course will also include experiencing the multidisciplinary aspects of patient selection and management and target selection. The emphasis will be on how different images can support targeting. Safety briefing for observing the iMRI interventions will follow on the second day. The delegates will attend a surgery to see how the approach works in live conditions. 

The course will also cover the following topics: 

  • Clinicians in clinic session
  • Radiologist/MR physicist do the targeting and MRI machine settings and review
  • Specific targeting and planning for the two patients to be implanted
